יצחק מרכוס - ציורים עם פוינטה

ציורים של אמן אוטו דידאקט מעולם הכימיה אל עולם האמנות

I immigrated as a five years old child with my parents from Germany in 1936. For 12 years now I am a professor emeritus of chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a city where I was educated and lived for most of my life. My main occupation is still science, and I started painting just eight years ago. I am an autodidact, working in acrylic paints on canvass, but am assisted by good advice from an art teacher. I have participated in two group exhibitions at the University and acted also as a single exhibitor at the Jerusalem Botanical Garden and elsewhere.

I do paint portraits, but mainly figurative paintings from my fantasy, often with some humor involved. The onlookers are invited to discover for themselves the story told by the painting, since beside painting I also indulge in the writing of stories. I sign my works in Japanese kata-kana characters, in order to be a bit different, being certainly square, but with sharp edges.
